My loves! We received your message from Mr. A.T.. Unfortunately we received nothing from you Sali, nor from Vanbi. The prices are increasing so much that we can’t hold out for much longer. A 750 g loaf of bread costs 300 lei and is hard to come by. Back then, we had 25,000 from Dr. Schwitzer, but in rubles at 30 lei each, so we only had 7,000 lei here. We were lucky that we got the 15,000 lei from you. We started to bake little cakes to earn some money but we had to stop as we can’t get any more eggs or flour. […] that Mr. Rudich wants to […] . We are in a bad way. – May God help us […] we shouldn’t have to hold out for any longer before […] seeing our loves. Take care to look after yourselves and keep yourselves healthy […]. I haven’t seen any signs of life from my family. I beg you to write to Sali as […] is getting nothing from now on although we write postmarked letters three times a week. Please write that she can send us money through Michel Weber’s brother in Roman str. Emisnecsu 31 as he has a connection here. He also sent packages to Michel but he only received one of them. Money is easier to bring in. May God help me and you! – We really needed the things we brought with us and we are lucky because we still have a pillow under our heads.
I am writing to you very often but I don’t know if you have received anything. We haven’t had anything from you in the post yet. We get a card from Sali every day, even double cards, please write that she should carry on writing, even if she hasn’t received anything from us. – How are you doing my loves? How much would I love to see you but we must hope […] for the future. – How are the Felds and Hereco? – Yours sincerely, with greetings and kisses from Fani
