Dear Osias,
Unfortunately we’re here as well, and I can’t describe what a condition and what a state we’re in, as I don’t have the strength. – If things don’t change soon, we’ll all perish, the only difference being, one sooner, the other later. – Just think, money is worthless, a loaf of bread has reached 90 rubles today, the weight is 1 J and it is miserable. What’s more, I’m constantly ill – stomach – bowel – hemorrhoids etc.
I’ve never in my life done this; even now I would have preferred to die. If it weren’t for Father and my brothers and sisters, as Sali and the children are here with us as well. Imagine the rest, many of our friends are here, but unfortunately, no one can help anyone else here. May things turn out well. Lots of love to you, my cousin Osias. Yours, cousin Meier, the Besner family and Sali Steiner.
Love to Lilli Maunu and Samy Satiky
Dear Osias, I want to let you know that we and our whole family are in Moghilev, Transnistria. We’re spending Jom Kippur here; only a miracle can save us. We’re already penniless and no one knows what is to come. If you possibly can, take the same opportunity to send us something and give it to Rosenthal. Tender love to dear Lilli Maunu and Samy, God willing we’ll see each other again in peace.
If you could arrange things for us, perhaps try going through Dr. Hostiuc, he is a good friend of ours. It can be paid for, I still have money in Radautz and can pay all expenses. –Try and do something before it’s too late. Your folks went off in a different direction beyond Balti, and we haven’t had any contact with them at all. The other people from Radautz live here and in the surrounding area. Savotz died here and many others, there are 40–50 corpses everyday. How are you? How are you occupying yourself?
Love to all,
Rosenthal.
