Scan of a letter from Transnistria to Bukovina, brought by Dr. Albert Twers

Dear Dad!
I’ve written to you several times and I’m wondering why we haven’t heard anything at all from you. We’re trying every way we can to get letters to you and get even the slightest bit of help. I’ve already told you about our terrible situation in all my letters and I repeat once more, please send us money and possibly food, if you can – sugar, bacon, sausages, jam. We’re getting weaker by the day. The price inflation is huge – a small loaf of bread costs 500 lei. If we didn’t have the poor children, we would’ve killed ourselves. You can’t imagine what we have to go through. We’re completely deprived of everything. Imagine going from our flat to lying on the floor; and from our great supplies to having to beg for food today – you can’t imagine how much that hurts.

We always ask ourselves why and what we are suffering for. Dearest Dad, help us to get a little freedom from our torment. Kisses to you all, Rosa
